A small moment in my life is a lie
In December of 2023 I returned to South Africa to visit my mom. As part of that trip, we visited Cape Point. For much of my adult life I've naively believed that Cape Point is the southern-most point of the African content. Not so. And something so easily verified.
Although these two rocky capes are very well known, neither cape is actually the southernmost point of the mainland of Africa; that is Cape Agulhas, approximately 150 kilometres to the east-southeast.
I thought it was pretty nonetheless. It was so windy that I almost died. The landscape is harsh. Hardly anything survives in the angry wind and upset ocean. I have a lot of respect for the fisherman out there in their rinky-dink boats toughing it out.
